ANNUAL FASHION SHOW
Each spring, FIA hosts its highly anticipated annual fashion show, a showcase of creativity and collaboration. Designers and models are hand-selected and paired together to ensure each piece reflects the personality of the model wearing it, creating a seamless harmony between fashion and individuality.
Past shows have included designers such as Angela Li, known for her innovative reconstructed denim, and Ky Jeon, who captivates with hand-painted pieces on recycled fabrics. In addition to the stunning collections, the show has attracted VIP guests from across the fashion industry, including influential figures from Los Angeles Fashion Week and various high-profile sponsors. The event not only celebrates fashion but also fosters connections within the industry, making it an invaluable opportunity for students to engage with professionals and gain insights into the fashion world.
SPEAKER PANELS
Every semester, FIA hosts a variety of interactive panels with big fashion houses and industry professionals so students can catch a glimpse into the background mechanisms of the fashion industry, from the specifics of fashion merchandising, advice on entrepreneurship and starting a business, insights on brand marketing and more.
Past panelists have included Supreme (Jonathan Yuen, senior manager of business development), Gentle Monster (Rona Yeh, brand marketing manager, and Nikita Jin, marketing strategist), Acne Studios (Johanna Hellberg, merchandising coordinator), Dior (Yasemin Bilge, senior manager of entertainment relations) and many more.
RECRUITER RECEPTION
FIA hosts recruiter receptions to establish awareness around the multitude of employment and internship opportunities the fashion industry has to offer. In the past, our recruiter receptions have included Uniqlo, Burlington, URBN, Tilly’s, Savage x Fenty and Guess, among other big names in fashion. Opportunities vary from roles within e-commerce, merchandising, marketing and design.
FIA FAIR
First established in Fall 2022, FIA’s Fashion Fairs served as an opportunity to bridge USC with the Downtown Los Angeles area and all it has to offer, fashion-wise. The fair promoted friendship and community among the dozens of vendors, as well as encouraging students to explore the diverse array of affordable, yet fashionable offerings, from secondhand vintage clothing to handmade jewelry and other accessories.
Unfortunately, FIA Fairs are on hold indefinitely for the future — we are hoping to bring the fairs back through communication and collaboration with the University.
